 Drama Korea yang Benar-benar DRAMA! Dibalik gemerlap dunia hiburan Korea yang sedang berada di era keemasan, terselip sekelumit permasalahan sosial yang serius. Tekanan besar, kompetisi yang tidak sehat, serta beragam kepentingan membuat para selebritis Korea terpaksa menutupi tekanan mental yang mereka hadapi. Aksi bunuh diri bahkan menjual tubuh menjadi wajar demi mewujudkan mimpi besar para pelaku industri hiburan di Korea.

 



Istilah Korean Wave atau Hallyu yang berarti gelombang Korea adalah sebutan yang diberikan oleh media di China sekitar tahun 1990 saat invasi Korea berhasil membius jutaan warga China. Kini budaya pop Korea sudah hampir tersebar di seluruh penjuru dunia, tak hanya di wilayah Asia saja namun juga sudah mencapai Amerika Serikat, Amerika Latin dan Timur Tengah. Seakan tidak peduli betapa sulitnya bahasa mereka untuk dimengerti, orang-orang Indonesia sangat menggilai segala hal yang berbau Korea, baik itu film, drama seri, maupun musik.

Warga Korea sendiri sangat gemar menonton drama, film serta mendengarkan musik. Para sutradara maupun produser disana rela mengeluarkan biaya yang besar untuk memproduksi sebuah drama seri maupun film. Hasilnya pun tak mengecewakan, sukses besar di dalam negeri hingga diekspor ke luar negeri. Tren yang saat ini dikuasai mereka berhasil menggulingkan era keemasan film Hongkong di Asia. Alur cerita yang kuat ditambah variasi cerita plus wajah cantik dan tampan para aktor menjadi pemicu kesuksesannya di dunia hiburan. Khususnya di Indonesia, masyarakat awam sendiri mulai mengenalnya saat stasiun televisi lokal menayangkan beberapa drama seri Korea seperti Endless Love, Full House, dan Boys Before Flower.
Cerita yang tidak terlalu dibuat-buat dan dekat dengan kehidupan kita membuat drama Korea disambut positif di Indonesia. Diiringi dengan maraknya drama seri Korea yang dijual bebas di pinggiran jalan melalui tangan para pedagang DVD bajakan. Bermodal belasan keping DVD, seseorang rela tidak keluar kamar hanya karena menonton film yang katanya punya efek seperti nikotin. Anak-anak, remaja, bahkan ibu rumah tangga pun ikut terbius drama dari negeri ginseng tersebut.

Ajakan Seksual Demi Kelangsungan Karir

Sebuah survey yang dirilis Komnas HAM Nasional Korea Selatan tahun 2010 yang lalu membeberkan fakta mengejutkan. Sebanyak 60 persen responden yang terdiri dari 111 aktris lama dan 240 aktris baru menyebutkan bahwa mereka sering mendapat rayuan seksual dari orang-orang yang mungkin bisa mempengaruhi karir mereka di dunia hiburan. Siapa saja mereka?  Kebanyakan adalah para pengusaha kaya, para produser televisi, produser film, dan tak ketinggalan para politisi Korea. Meski tidak ada ajakan langsung, namun orang-orang berpengaruh di negeri ginseng itu melakukan penawaran melalui para agensi, kolega, dan broker-broker liar yang bernafsu mengumpulkan uang.

Data statistik ini dipicu oleh salah satu skandal sex tape yang menimpa aktris terkenal Jang Ja-Yeon. Rekaman video yang diambil secara diam-diam tanpa sepengetahuannya ini memperlihatkan seorang laki-laki tengah bercinta dengannya. Tak hanya satu video yang tersebar, laki-laki yang masih misterius identitasnya ini juga tampil di beberapa video lain. Sampai akhirnya Jang mati bunuh diri di bulan Maret 2009, sejumlah sumber terpercaya kala itu menyebutkan bahwa Jang sudah tidak tahan lagi untuk menolak paksaan terhadap dirinya agar melakukan hubungan seks dengan sejumlah orang.

Publik berhasil mengungkap 31 nama pengusaha yang diduga telah tidur bersama Jang Ja-Yeon selama ini. Beberapa nama seperti Presiden Direktur Chosun Journal, Bang Sang-hoon, Wakil Presiden Direktur Sports Chosun, Bang Myung-hoon, lalu bos Lotte, Shin Kyuk-ho, bos Kolon, Lee Woong-ryeol, mantan produser drama stasiun televisi KBS dan Presiden Direktur Olive 9, Go Dae-hwa, produser drama All My Love KBS, Jun Chang-geun, produser drama KBS, MBC, dan SBS, Jung Seho. Ja-yeon juga dipaksa melayani Produser Drama KBS, Boys Before Flower, Jun Gi-sang dan penata musik Boys Before Flowers, Playful Kiss, Goong, Perfect Couple, Song Byung-joon. Dua nama terakhir ini dicurigai yang meloloskan Ja-yeon untuk terlibat di serial fenomenal Korea, Boys Before Flowers dengan berperan sebagi Sunny.

Saat proses survei berlangsung, beberapa pertanyaan spesifik pun terlontar dari Komisi HAM Nasional Korea. Hasilnya sebanyak 22 persen aktris mengaku pernah dipaksa maupun diminta oleh para agen untuk melakukan hubungan seksual, sedangkan lebih dari 6 persen justru pernah mengalami kekerasan seksual. Terungkapnya fakta kurang mengenakkan ini membuat pemerintah Korea Selatan segera mengusulkan undang-undang yang akan melindungi para aktris dari pratek pelecehan seksual. Selain itu pejabat Kementrian Budaya Korea Selatan juga menjelaskan bahwa undang-undang tersebut juga akan mengatur pendirian agensi-agensi hiburan, sedangkan agensi bermasalah akan langsung ditutup.

Hal senada juga diungkapkan penyanyi asal Taiwan yang berniat merintis karir di Korea, Estrella Lin. Mantan anggota Beauties 3EP ini membeberkan bahwa agennya berusaha untuk melakukan pertukaran badan dengan investor bisnis terkenal demi kelangsungan karir di Korea. Dengan tegas wanita ini menolak dan memilih kembali ke Taiwan untuk menerbitkan sebuah buku kontroversial yang mengungkapkan sisi gelap dari bisnis hiburan Korea. Dalam sebuah kesempatan wawancara, Lin mengatakan, “Saya ditekan untuk melakukan hubungan seksual’ untuk menghibur investor, tapi saya tidak pernah membiarkan diriku untuk melakukannya. Aku tidak takut Korea memprotes karena apa yang saya katakan adalah benar,” ujarnya yakin. Lin juga disuruh untuk mengubah tanggal kelahirannya 1980 menjadi 1985, karena ia dianggap sudah terlalu tua untuk terjun di industri Korea.

Aksi Bunuh Diri Selebritis Menjadi Inspirasi Bagi Fans 

Selain permasalahan skandal seksual, fenomena artis bunuh diri di Korea sudah berlangsung lama. Baru-baru ini Han Chae Won yang telah menghilang selama dua bulan diketahui telah meninggal dunia karena bunuh diri. Polisi tidak menemukan tanda-tanda adanya pembunuhan di TKP dan menyimpulkan bahwa Chae Won mengakhiri hidupnya karena depresi. Artis yang memulai karirnya sejak tahun 2002 dan baru merintis karir di bidang music menambah panjang daftar selebritis Korea yang meninggal karena bunuh diri.

Psikolog dari Universitas Yonsei bernama Hwang Sangmin mencoba menganalisis fenomena yang terjadi di negerinya. Ia berpendapat orang Korea memiliki konsep Yan yang berarti setiap orang berusaha keras untuk diam dan tabah meski dalam keadaan marah. Hal inilah yang dialami para selebritis, pencitraan dengan menerapkan konsep Yan benar-benar dijalankan. Beban hidup, fakor ekonomi, hubungan asmara, takut gagal, dan tuntutan karir membuat mereka merasa depresi tanpa bisa mengeluarkan unek-uneknya. Saat sudah terlalu berat, pilihan bunuh diri menjadi jalan pintas yang melegakan bagi mereka.

Masih menurut Hwang Sangmin, orang Korea tergolong pribadi yang tertutup, sehingga para selebritis akan merasa malu jika diketahui sedang mengalami depresi atau dibawah tekanan. Faktor lain yang tak kalah penting adalah agama, banyak penduduk Korea yang tidak menganut agama serta kepercayaan terhadap konsep reinkarnasi sangat besar. Beberapa faktor itulah yang diduga menjadi penyebab para selebritis mengakhiri hidupnya dengan bunuh diri.

Timbulnya werther effect setelah publikasi yang dilakukan oleh media tentang peristiwa bunuh diri selebritis turut menyumbang angka kematian di Korea Selatan. Contohnya saat Choi Jin Shil tewas gantung diri karena depresi, angka kematian bunuh diri melonjak hingga 1.700 kasus dalam satu bulan. Hal serupa sudah pernah terjadi di tahun 2005 saat Lee Eun Joo mengakhiri hidupnya, rata-rata kematian melonjak dua kali lipat dari sebelumnya. Dari data yang pernah dilansir pemerintah Korea Selatan, jumlah penduduk yang meninggal di tahun 2009 sebanyak 28.400 orang dengan usia remaja sampai 30 tahun. Faktor psikis menjadi alasan utama bagi mereka yang melakukan tindakan ini.
